History

Bernard Bloom moved to Watford in 1957 having graduated from Newcastle University. He established his dental practice in the same year and in fact many of those first patients still attend the practice to this day as well as their children and grandchildren. He first practiced from his home on Hempstead road and then moved in 1959 to New Hertford house on the St. Albans Road where he remained until 1990. He was one of the first dentists in the country to work with a dental hygienist, starting early the practice tradition for innovation.

A True Family Practice

David Bloom, his son, joined him in 1990 also having graduated at Newcastle University in 1989, and together they moved the practice to purpose renovated premises on Leavesden Road and Bloomsbury Dental Practice was formed. Father and son practiced together until a third partner, Jay Padayachy, joined the practice in 1998. Jay had also graduated at Newcastle in the same year as David. In fact Jay’s father, also a dentist, had graduated with Bernard in 1957, so his joining was totally in keeping with the true family nature of the practice. Many awards followed for the practice reflecting the high level of dentistry and customer care that was on offer.

50 years

Bernard retired in 2000. The practice continued to thrive but due to confusion about the practice location (the practice is located in Watford and not Bloomsbury London) it was decided to re-brand as Senova Dental Studios in 2006. We celebrated our 50th anniversary in 2007.

Best Referral Practice

As more specialist services were added we began to run out of space and so it was decided to relocate the practice. In May 2008 the practice relocated to state of the art premises at 10 Beechen Grove in the heart of Watford. These premises are unique in the space and environment they offer, as well as providing the teaching facility that David and Jay’s expertise now required to help train other dentist’s and the facilities for most mainstream dental specialties all under one roof. This was all reflected in 2009 when Senova Dental Studios won the WOW Dental Awards Best Referral Practice.
