In each edition we focus on a Senova patient to illustrate the range of services available to you. This time it's the turn of one of our celebrity patients, ex-England rugby player, turned Dancing on Ice star, Kyran Bracken, who'll be doing the honours and cutting the ribbon at the launch party for our new practice.
When you're a sportsman, you need to be versatile. Even if you start your career very early, obviously the lifespan is 'accident permitting' and limited to you being at peak fitness. You need to have something else to move onto when you decide to hang up your boots.
In Kyran's case, at 36, this move pitched him firmly into the celebrity limelight, where appearance is always under scrutiny.
Early in his rugby career, in 1992, Kyran had one of his two front teeth knocked out and the other broken – in fact, one was left embedded in Andy Robinson's head! Just before his first appearance in Dancing on Ice, Senova's David Bloom placed an implant in Kyran's upper jaw.
The treatment took approximately 7 months over 12 appointments, and as well as the implant, Kyran had two crowns fitted to his upper central incisors. You can find out more about implants in the 'Treatment Focus'.
Kyran's delighted with the outcome:
"When you're playing rugby, you're not allowed to have major dental work for safety reasons, so as soon as I finished playing professionally, I knew I needed to get my teeth sorted. The work I had done means that now I can smile with confidence – even when I'm not feeling quite as confident as I may look on the ice!"
I congratulate you for the superb standard of professionalism and the courteous and kind treatment which is very comforting.
