David and Jay Success
The second annual British Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry Conference took place on 18th and 19th November 2005. It was a huge success with the interest in cosmetics being demonstrated by the massive growth in membership and attendance. On the Friday, David gave a very entertaining and informative lecture on occlusion in cosmetic cases to a full house of delegates. Both David and Mel (head of hygiene) spoke again on the second day.
The Board of Directors held their annual general meeting and re-elected Jay to the board of Directors. David's appointment as President-elect was ratified and he will take up Presidency of the BACD in 2007.

Our new spa room was opened in September 2005. Candles, a massage chair, DVD glasses and CDs make for a relaxing experience whether you are undergoing a tooth whitening procedure or just waiting for your appointment.

Medals Galore!!
Each year at the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry Convention all 7000 dentists are invited to submit photographic evidence of the cases that they have performed that year. For the first time, Senova Dental Studios submitted 5 cases and won 1 gold, 3 silver and 1 bronze medals. To our knowledge, no other UK dentist has ever achieved this measure of success.
In a letter of congratulations from the AACD governing body they praised the standards of excellence achieved and went on to say that David and Jay "represent the upper echelon of the skilled members of the organisation.

Mouth Cancer Awareness Week
Mouth cancer kills 1 person every 5 hours in the UK. Any mouth ulcer that doesn't heal within 3 weeks or any red or white patch should be seen by a dentist. The key to surviving mouth cancer is early detection and survival chances can increase from 50% to 90% if the condition is treated early enough.
Everyone should visit the dentist at least once a year for a mouth cancer check. At Senova Dental Studios all continuing care examinations by the dentist automatically include a mouth cancer check."

David and Jay return from instructing in the US
Both David and Jay have instructed many times in the UK but have just recently returned from the US where they were invited to instruct American dentists. This is only the first of many visits to come and is a fitting tribute to their skill and expertise.

Ozone treatment now available at Senova
Early dental caries can now be stopped in its tracks by the application of ozone. The dental drill is on its way to becoming a thing of the past.

David and Jay instructing in the UK.
Both dentists have been asked by Dr Rosenthal to instruct on behalf of the Rosenthal Institute in London a true feather in their cap.
David and Jay have both achieved the Advanced Aesthetic Dentistry course taught by Dr Larry Rosenthal (cosmetic dentist to the stars). There are only 7 dentists in the UK that have achieved the Masters level and 4 of those 7 dentists have chosen to come to Senova to have their smile makeovers, a mark of just how well regarded David and Jay are by their peers.
It is a pleasure to have trained Drs Bloom and Padayachy at the Rosenthal Institute in New York City. Having successfully completed all three levels of my aesthetic hands on continuum they are now considered masters of 'Aesthetic Dentistry'. They are both leaders in their field and have now been added to our London hands on continuum faculty as instructors to help other dentists in the UK aspire to high levels of dental education

Trip arranged to Vancouver for AACD Convention.
A group of staff travelled to Vancouver in April 2004 for the annual convention of the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry. This convention, the biggest of its kind, was a chance to preview all the latest advances in dentistry as well as an opportunity to listen to some of the worlds leading dental practitioners.

Implants and sedation now available at the practice.
We are delighted to announce that, as from the start of 2004, we are able to offer implant surgery in-house. This surgery will be performed by leading implantologist Dr. Guy McLellan using a revolutionary new technique that reduces the time and, therefore, the cost of the procedure.
In addition, it will be possible to arrange sedation during treatment, again in-house, for any patient who so wishes.

Acupuncture available.
From the end of 2003, we have been offering acupuncture to a variety of our patients. This treatment can be extremely effective in cases of severe gag reflex as well as anxiety. Both Melonie and Rachel offer this service.
