Watford Dentist to head National Dental Academy
A Watford Dentist is set to take the reigns of a national dental organisation this week. David Bloom, a dentist at Senova Dental Studios (www.senovadental.com) in Leavesden Road, Watford, is to be confirmed in the role of President of the British Academy of Cosmetic Dentists (BACD), at the Academy's Annual Conference and AGM in London this Thursday, 15 November.
The BACD has over 700 members across the UK and is a not-for-profit organisation for the advancement and ethical delivery of cosmetic dentistry. It is open to all dental professionals including dentists, dental technicians and hygienists. The BACD is widely recognised nationally and internationally as the main UK trade body for this increasingly high-profile Industry, and is affiliated to the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentists, the largest such organisation in the world.
In his role as President, David Bloom will be responsible for leading the Academy's work promoting the highest standards in cosmetic dentistry and acting as a national media spokesperson on important issues from regulation to health & safety. The BACD has recently run campaigns on topics as varied as the risks associated with home whitening treatments, the dangers of going overseas for cosmetic dental treatments and the need for the public to know how to find a reputable cosmetic dentist in their area and make informed choices about treatments.
Dr Bloom, who will continue his award-winning dental work at Watford's Senova Dental Studios in addition to his BACD commitments, is widely recognised as one of the UK's top dentists and as such is often called upon to speak at international conferences and to train dentists new to the sector, including through the Senova-based training organisation Coopr8.
Speaking about his appointment as President of the BACD, David Bloom said:

organisations, and recognition that many of the UK's top practitioners are
based outside London, such as ourselves at Senova in Watford. I hope in my
time as President of the BACD I can fulfil the aims of educating the public
about cosmetic dentistry, allowing them to make informed choices about the
treatments and dentists they choose, and ensuring that dentists have access
to information and training about the latest techniques and best practice."
