DENTAL IMPLANTS
Dental implants are used to replace 1 or more missing teeth.
Implants are a more sturdy and long-lasting solution to the replacement of missing teeth and they give you greater comfort and confidence than other methods of removable tooth replacement.
The titanium implant is placed in the jawbone by a surgical procedure and the post and crown are attached.
An additional benefit is that, unlike bridges, no adjacent tooth structure is removed.
Implant placement is available in-house by Dr. Guy McLellan, a leading implant surgeon. Dr. McLellan uses a new dental implant solution that can replace missing teeth IN ONE DAY! Implant surgery has now become simpler and less expensive than ever before
Implants
Implants are a more sturdy and long-lasting solution to the replacement of missing teeth.
They give you greater comfort and confidence than other methods of removable tooth replacement.
Implants are made of titanium, an inert metal that is effective at fusing with living bone.
The placement of implants can be a 1-stage or 2-stage procedure:
1-stage:
occurs when there is enough good bone support. A single piece implant is placed into the jaw bone and a small abutment is left above the gum line to which a temporary crown is attached. After 3 months (when the implant has fused to the bone and healing is complete), the permanent crown is placed.
2-stage:
occurs when the bone support is weak or a bone graft is required. The implant is placed, by a surgical procedure, under the gum and left to fuse to the bone. After healing (3-4 months) the area is exposed and an abutment added to raise it above the gum line. The permanent crown can be made and fitted in place.
Implant placement is available in-house by Dr. Guy McLellan BDS FDS RCS (Eng) MBBS.
